Wilderland End of Year Community Showcase

Monday, Jun 10, 5-6pm

The public is invited to join us for a community exhibition of our microschool’s first year at the Ogden Valley public library. The event will feature displays of student independent projects, a live Q&A session with a panel of current Wilderland students, and an encapsulation of what we loved, what we learned and what we’ll be doing differently next year. You’ll hear from our Lead Guides and our Board President, and get to meet current Wilderland parents too. RSVPs encouraged, but not required.

Concerns

I don’t know if I want my child to be experimented upon. Should I wait a year or two before enrolling?

Will my child regress if they are not forced to study in a group environment like at a traditional school?

If we don’t standardize test, how will we know if Wilderland is working for my child?

How will teachers address controversial political or religious topics?

Will my child choose to study hard things if I give them the freedom?

How will teachers respond to behavioral problems?

Will a nature-based experience be safe for my child?

Will my child have enough friends at such a small learning community?

Logistics

How much time will the kids spend outside in the winter or during inclement weather?

What scholarship options are available?

When can we tour the campus?

Will Wilderland have early-out on Wednesday like the local public school?

If Wilderland doesn't seem to be working out for my child, what happens?

When should I start applying for scholarships?

Can parents visit Wilderland while it is in session? Or volunteer once in a while as a teacher’s aide?

How do parents get involved as volunteers?
