Our Declaration of Neutrality

Wilderland is a politically neutral and secular institution of academic learning.

We espouse a learner-driven model of education, and it is up to the students to decide what to study (and what resources to use in their course of study). Censorship is not a tenet of democratic institutions, but we will work to ensure that classroom sources and materials are developmentally appropriate. Parents are welcome to provide input and specific guardrails for their own child's materials.

Because Wilderland is not a lecture-based institution, staff members have limited influence on how children develop their political or spiritual worldview.

Through thought-provoking questions, Wilderland expects and encourages students to engage in critical thinking and rousing debate with one another about all perspectives and philosophies, in order to form educated opinions and participate effectively in interpersonal and civic discussions with those of differing opinions.

Whatever political or religious background your family may come from, we believe that when the next generation learns about the world outside their own limited vantage points, we support and enrich the diverse fabric and the shared welfare of our common humanity.
