Special Needs Opportunity Scholarship

The Special Needs Opportunity Scholarship Program is a government-funded program that provides scholarships to students with special needs to attend private schools. The program is designed to give families more options for their children's education and to provide financial assistance to those who may not be able to afford private school tuition.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must meet certain requirements. The student's custodial parent or legal guardian must reside within the State of Utah. The student must also have a disability that qualifies them for special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as determined either by

1 A multidisciplinary team evaluation (see form below)

Or

2 An Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

The amount of scholarship funds awarded are based upon the household size and family income. One of the remarkable things about this scholarship is that siblings of children with special needs ALSO get scholarship funds to attend the same private school. Please see details below.

In addition, you will need birth certificates for your children to verify their ages, and two documents to show proof of residency (utility bill, driver's license, etc.).

When the form asks you to pick a school, choose "homeschool" for now. We are currently working with the CFEF team to get qualified to receive their funds. Once we are fully approved, you will be able to switch the destination of your funds from homeschool to Wilderland.
